How matches work
Queueing
Queue from the Ranked menu. You get matched against someone near your Elo.
The longer you wait, the wider that Elo range gets, so a quiet queue still finds you someone eventually. It just might be further from your rating.
Starting
Once you're matched there's a short warmup while the server generates the match, then a countdown. Both players get the exact same rooms in the exact same order.
Room generation logic needs more.
During the match
You race the same sequence. Your opponent's progress is shown as you go.
If you're both in the same room at the same time you'll see them as a live ghost. You can turn ghosts off (via the ranked keybinds) if you find them distracting.
The default hud option is a familiar vanilla like setting with the match timer top left as the file timer and your progress as the chapter timer. To view your opponents progress in this mode, you can hold your journal key to see a pop up modal with the progress.
If you prefer to see your opponent's progress at all times, you can switch hud settings to ranked in options and your opponents progress will be set top right with yours top left and the timer in the top center.
Need to add stuff about chat and commands and room skips and blah
Disconnecting
If you drop, you get a grace period to reconnect and carry on. Connect back in time and the match continues where it was, your opponent is told you reconnected.
Stay gone past the grace period and it's a forfeit.
Reconnection only works as long as your game isn't exited. So an alt+f4 or a force quit is an auto forfeit. Reconnection only works as long as you're disconnected (such as a network drop) but still in game and in match.
Can add more things like server disconns and stuff
Timeouts
Matches, lobbies (per map in lobby), and replays have a time limit of 1hour. If nobody finishes before time runs out in a. ranked match, its an auto draw. In a lobby, its void.
